VITAC, the largest captioning provider in the United States, is excited to be a sponsor of TDI’s upcoming 50th Anniversary Gala.
TDI’s golden anniversary celebration will be held this Thursday (Oct. 25) at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland. In addition to dinner and an auction, the event will feature keynote speaker Alex Abenchuchan, host of the popular “Daily Moth” online ASL news show for the Deaf/ASL community, and DJ Nico DiMarco.
Other gala sponsors include Comcast/NBC Universal, CBS Corp., Netflix, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Gallaudet University, among others.
TDI (formally Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc.) was established in 1968 to promote further distribution of text telephones, or TTYs, in the deaf community and to publish an annual national directory of TTY numbers. Today, TDI is an active national advocacy organization addressing equal access issues in telecommunications and media for people who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, late-deafened, and deaf-blind.
For more than 30 years, VITAC has worked with caption viewers and advocacy groups, and we are proud of — and benefit greatly from — our strong advocate relationships, including those with TDI, the National Association of the Deaf, and Hearing Loss Association of America, among others.
We strongly believe in “Accessibility for Life” as we strive to make accessible content standard, and stand by our commitment to provide captions and accessible solutions for our customers, while, perhaps most importantly, maintaining the highest quality for our consumers, the tens of millions of Americans who rely on captioning every day.
