Captioner - FS (Fixed Schedule)

Position Specifics

  • Set schedule of five eight-hour work days per week, including one weekend shift
  • Schedule consists of 20 hours/week of local news captioning + standby coverage
  • Schedules rotate quarterly
  • Limited, regular programming
  • Guaranteed payment bimonthly via direct deposit.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Target earnings range from a minimum of $50,000 to $59,000

Technical Support and Training

  • Captioner never sees a phone bill. VITAC assumes cost of all phone line installations and monthly charges.
  • Hardware, software, dictionary conversion and full engineering and IT support provided free of charge.
  • Paid Training Period, including one week of technical training at VITAC’s Canonsburg headquarters and continued at-home support.

Qualifications:

  • Captioning Experience is preferred
  • Will consider highly skilled realtime writers who have trained in some capacity in realtime captioning and whose dictionaries support a full range of programming, including news, sports, entertainment and finance.
  • Accuracy Rate: no less than 98%
