Heather York
VP, Marketing

Heather York has worked in captioning since 1992. She began her VITAC career as a production coordinator and soon was supervising realtime production and scheduling. After a promotion to account executive in 2001, she relocated from Pittsburgh to our Arlington, VA, office in 2002. The office is now located in downtown DC. There she helps government agencies meet Section 508 accessibility standards. She also manages customer relations for local news stations, cable channels, and post facilities interested in captioning, video description, and foreign-language subtitles, and serves as our marketing manager. She serves as VITAC's advocacy expert in various organizations, working with caption viewers and with the FCC's Consumer Advisory Committee and the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology. Heather graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in American Sign Language.

Heather enjoys cooking and eating fine food, hiking along the C&O canal and discovering new places. When not at home with her two cats, she follows her husband Andy around the country to jam band festivals and concerts.
